FOYT FAMILY WINES RELEASES ITS SECOND COLLECTORS SERIES WINE

Limited release wine’s label design features oil painting by artist Colin Carter

SONOMA, CA (December 30, 2014) - Foyt Family Wines is releasing its second Collectors Series wine with a 2011 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from the Meadowcroft Estate Vineyard which lies in the esteemed Mt. Veeder region of the Napa Valley.  Bottled in 2014, this special wine honors the 50 year anniversary of A.J. Foyt’s second Indianapolis 500 victory in 1964.In that Memorial Day race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Foyt   started fifth, dominated the race and led 146 laps. He averaged 147.350 mph smashing the track record by over four miles per hour! When Foyt crossed the finish line, it would be the last time a front-engine roadster would ever lead a lap at the 'Brickyard.'

That year, Foyt won 10 of the 13 National Championship races, winning every race he finished, setting an IndyCar record. His finest tribute came from 1963 Indy 500 Winner Parnelli Jones, who at the '64 Indy 500 victory dinner, introduced Foyt as "the greatest race car driver who ever lived."

The image used on the bottle, an original oil painting by British artist Colin Carter, captures the essence of this historic moment in the Foyt family’s legacy.

“Due to consumer demand, we decided to continue with our Collectors Series offerings utilizing an image of my dad on the bottle, “said Larry Foyt, co-founder of Foyt Family Wines. “With Colin’s amazing paintings that he created for my dad, we have three incredible Collectors Series wine labels already for our collection going forward.”

Created for the Foyt family by winemaker Tom Meadowcroft from his Estate Vineyard, the Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested at the end of September of 2011 and fermented for two weeks then it was aged in Alain Fouquet French Oak barrels for three years, which allowed for the massive fruit and tannin structure to mature into a complex and complete wine.

With only 40 cases produced, the Reserve release is limited to only 15 cases available to the public at this time.  Each bottle is wax dipped and packaged in a heat embossed Foyt Family Wines wooden box.  The wine, which retails for $106.00, will be sold exclusively via the Foyt Family Wines website (www.foytwines.com).

Foyt Family Wines was created by Larry Foyt and A. J. Foyt IV, the son and grandson, respectively, of the racing legend.  Both men joined the family business of racing.  Larry has run in NASCAR races as well as the Indy 500 and A.J. IV ran his first Indy 500 at the age of 19.  Joining forces with winemaker Tom Meadowcroft in 2009 to further pursue their passion for fine wines, Foyt Family Wines debuted with its release of No. 14 which was a 2006 St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.

Main Street welcomes AJ Foyt Racing

A.J. Foyt reaches purchase agreement with Speedway Redevelopment Commission for facility on Main Street

Speedway, Ind. — The Speedway Redevelopment Commission and AJ Foyt Racing signed agreements for purchase and renovation of the 45,000 square-foot building located at 1180 Main St., Speedway.

The new location will serve as an expansion of AJ Foyt Racing’s team offices in Waller, Texas. The team will begin renovations with a brick facade to the north side of the building and installation of windows on the south side.

As auto racing’s most inspiring champion, A.J. Foyt is the record winner of 67 IndyCar races, and seven national championships. He is also the only driver to win all three major motorsport races: the Indianapolis 500, the Daytona 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“The Indianapolis Motor Speedway holds a rich part of my history and future,” said A.J. Foyt. “During the racing season, it makes sense for our team to operate close to the track where my name was made.  I remember what Main Street looked like when I first came to Indy and the Commission has managed to modernize it but retain the area’s history too. We’re happy to be part of Speedway’s redevelopment.”

The Town of Speedway is pleased to welcome a corporation who shares their close identification with racing and innovation. This new addition to Main Street helps bring growth and economic development to Speedway’s already growing community.

“When Speedway began their redevelopment plans in 2005, one of the dreams was to bring racing legends like A.J. Foyt and his team back to Main Street – the racing capital of the world,” said Vince Noblet, Director of the Speedway Redevelopment Commission. “We’re primed to build upon our unique history and motorsports ancestry – both of which are an integral part of the rich fabric that makes Speedway a great place to live and work.”

“A.J. Foyt on Main Street further demonstrates that our community’s economic development is creating a place where a legend of the track would want to locate and this move is another step in our revitalization,” said Gary Raikes, President of the Speedway Town Council.

Legendary Racing Family Is En Route to Legendary Status in Wine!

SONOMA, Calif. January 21, 2014—The Foyt family is known for their legendary status in motorsports. Now they are serving notice to the wine industry!

The Foyt Family Wines 2010 No. 77 Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon won the Double Gold Medal in the prestigious 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (SFCWC). It is the second straight year that the eponymous wine won a Double Gold in the "Cabernet Sauvignon $60.00 & Over" category in the world's largest competition of American wines.

"We were truly honored to win back-to-back Double Golds with our 2009 and 2010 vintages of the No. 77 -- and just a bit surprised -- when the 2014 results were released," said Larry Foyt, the son of legendary race driver A.J. Foyt. "We named the No. 77 after my dad's landmark year when he became the first driver to win the Indianapolis 500 four times in 1977," said Foyt.

"That career-defining moment garnered him unprecedented international exposure as he was lauded as the world's best Indy car driver. For our wine to take Double Gold medals two years in a row makes us feel that we're following the same path as my dad but in the world of ultra-premium cabernet sauvignon wines," said Foyt, who started the wine company five years ago with A.J. Foyt IV, grandson of the motorsports icon.

With over 5,800 entries in this year's world renowned SFCWC, winning the Double Gold medal is a feat in itself. To win it for the second consecutive year is remarkable for the relatively young wine company as many of its competitors have been making wine for decades.

"We know our wine is great, however being classified as a 'celebrity wine' resulted in certain oenophiles considering us to be dilettantes," said Managing Partner Chris Perry, who co-founded Foyt Family Wines along with the Foyts.

"To put it bluntly, we received little love from the industry and some experts frowned upon our efforts," Perry revealed. "But now we've won a Double Gold two years in a row in the largest competition of U.S. wines in the world! Enough said."

The SFCWC is conducted through a blind tasting by a panel of wine experts, which removes any bias – positive or negative– towards the winery. For the past two years the panel was comprised of 60 experts from the media, trade, hospitality and education sectors of the wine industry. To win a Double Gold medal in its category, a wine must receive the Gold vote from the entire five-member judging panel, making the vote unanimous.

The back-to-back Double Gold awards are further evidence that Foyt Family Wines wine grower Tom Meadowcroft is a world class wine grower, and our winemaker Petar Kirilov is a star in managing the consistency of our wine through his disciplined and creative approach to the winemaking process.

The Foyt No.77 Cabernet Sauvignon is available in select states and can be purchased online at foytwines.com or the Meadowcroft Wines Tasting Room in Sonoma, Calif.

FOYT FAMILY WINES INTRODUCES ITS FIRST COLLECTORS SERIES WINE

This Year, Give The Gift Of Wine And Create Lasting Memories

SONOMA, CA—Race fans will now have an opportunity to purchase that special holiday gift for their favorite wine lovers!

Foyt Family Wines is introducing its first Collectors Series wine with No. 77, a  2007 Cabernet Sauvignon from the esteemed Mt. Veeder Napa Valley Appellation.  This special wine is named after the year A.J. Foyt became the first driver to win the Indianapolis 500 four times.

Featuring 100% Cabernet grapes, the No. 77 Mt. Veeder Reserve is limited to only 50 cases (600 bottles).  Each bottle is hand numbered and packaged in a heat embossed Foyt Family Wines wooden box.  The wine, which retails for $75, will be sold exclusively via the Foyt Family Wines website (www.foytfamilywines.com) and also at the Meadowcroft Wines (www.meadowcroftwines.com)  tasting room at 23574 Arnold Drive in Sonoma, California.  Web orders are being taken immediately.

"Upon tasting the 2007 Mt. Veeder Cabernet, we knew right away that the name given to this vintage had to be one of a significant accomplishment in our family's history," said Larry Foyt, who owns Foyt Family Wines along with A.J. Foyt IV. "1977 was an epic year for my father as he became the first four-time winner of the Indy 500.  This wine offering marks the first vintage where we used the actual photo on the bottle to pay tribute to my dad.  We put our hearts into everything we do and this wine reflects that."
Created for the Foyt family by winemaker Tom Meadowcroft, the wine was harvested at the end of September of 2007 and fermented for two weeks before it was aged in Alain Fouquet French Oak barrels for three years, which allowed for the massive fruit and tannin structure to mature into a complex and complete wine.

"The wine is dominated by blackberry cassis, blueberry and a hint of liquorice aromatics," says Tom Meadowcroft.  "The surrounding woodlands also influence the aromatics and pallet – the vineyard is surrounded by hundreds of acres of Redwoods, Manzanita, Madrone as well as White and Black Oak trees.  This influence on the wine contributes to the dark berry and forest aromatics and gives the wine a unique sense of this mountain terroir."

In 1977 A.J. Foyt became the first driver to win the Indianapolis 500 four times, having won in 1961, 1964 and in 1967.  In winning his fourth Indy 500, Foyt drove a car – The Coyote – that was designed and built by Foyt's team and powered by a Foyt-built engine.  He remains the only driver-owner to win the Indy 500 in a car designed and built in his own race shop, thus securing his place as a true legend of motorsports.  And Foyt is the only driver who has won the Indy 500, the Daytona 500 and the 24 Hours at Le Mans.

The image used on the No. 77 bottle was provided by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's Director of Photography Ron McQueeney.  McQueeney has captured many Indy 500 memories on film throughout the years and the photograph used on the No. 77 wine bottle was McQueeney's first-ever Indy 500 victory lane photo.

Foyt Family Wines was created by Larry Foyt and A. J. Foyt IV, the son and grandson, respectively, of the racing legend.  Both men joined the family business of racing.  Larry has run in NASCAR races as well as the Indy 500 and A.J.
